Bar Supervisor needed for busy student union bar

The job involves supervising the day to day running of a busy student union bar, as well as serving customers, setting up and taking down the bar and some record keeping. Previous supervisory experience and ability to oversee staff are essential.

The contract is fixed term of around 9 months, to coincide with the academic year (September to June). The hours are expected to be around 22 - 25 hours a week during termtime, but much less during the holidays (approx 4 weeks over Christmas and 3 weeks over Easter). The job involves some weekend and evening work. The salary offered is £7.50 per hour.

The interview process may involve working a trial shift, for which you would be paid.

Experience Required
• At least 2 years experience working behind a bar in a senior role (keyholder or greater)
• At least 1 years experience directly supervising other staff
• Some basic computer skills, e.g. ability to use email
• Experience of Microsoft Word and Excel would be useful

Main Roles & Responsibilities
• Supervise high standards of service and daily smooth running of the bar
• Supervise high standards of bar appearance, cleanliness and tidiness
• Ensure all blackboards and other promotional Items have a uniform high standard
• Oversee bar staff’s day to day activities
• Ensure all bar staff follow company policies and procedures
• Care of bar stock
• Coordinate theme nights and promotions
• Work alongside the Ecobars Policy of being as environmentally friendly as possible at all times
• Some liaison with maintenance staff
• Serving customers
• Setting up and taking down the bar
• Supervise bar waste and ullage records
• Supervise overrings and voids records
• Responsible for staff tabs and subs record
• Daily cashing up and filling in the cashing up sheet
• Passing on any mail, receipts etc. for filing
• Ordering and maintaining stock levels and ordering new supplies as required
• Liaising with suppliers
