At Carter's Driving School www.cartersdrivingschool.com we offer training for those who wish to become an instructor themselves. There are three exams to pass so we break the training down into three distinct stages allowing you to spread the cost over the training period. We will take you through one step at a time until you are a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor. All training is done on a strictly one-to-one basis and all courses are available as PAY AS YOU GO.
Part 1. Theory and Hazard Perception Test.
The First part consists of a theory test and a hazard perception test. The theory test is a computerised multiple choice test made up of 100 questions. The pass mark is 85%. The pass mark for the hazard perception test is 57 out of a possible 75.

Part 2. Practical Driving Test.
The second part consists of a one-hour test in which the candidate must display a much higher standard of driving skill than the average motorist. It includes motorway or dual carriageway driving, town and country driving and all of the set manoeuvres. All training is done on a strictly one-to-one basis.

Part 3. Teaching Ability.
This third section assesses the candidate's ability to explain every detail of driving to their student. This must be done in a kind and patient way so that the pupil is made to feel at ease. Before this exam can be taken the candidate should received at least 40 hours of teaching ability tuition. All of the training is done on a strictly one-to-one basis.
